Hey DD, try using denatured alcohol to pre-heat your stove ! Kero and diesel both are hard to start without some kind of preheat !
The best alky (in small amounts) to get in the US is HEET in the yellow bottles, at most auto parts.
There should be a small cup down at the bottom of the stove, just fill it up with alky and light. when its about to go out, crack open the valve ! It should fire right up on one match !!!
Your 'Blue chief' stove sure looks like an Enders Baby ! Neat little stoves !!! AND as far as I know, meant to run on gasoline...???
(which might have something to do with hard starting on Diesel ?!)

Yea, Nur Fur Benzin!, No corn needed. I don't think I'd try gasoline with the benzin Burner Baby. This is one cool stove. I've never come across it's equal. I have'nt used it since 1989. Funny, I still have spare parts for it;)

DD,
Nur Fur Benzin means 'Only for Benzin' . Benzin is gasoline .
Use coleman fuel, and or white gas

Sorry, I thought Nur means "Not". I used colemans fuel or kerasene or deisel, when I used it. Since you are German, what does NUR FUR Trinkwasser translate to. I only drink " Potable Wasser" from a water buffalo.

No. I'm not german, but I use a translator:

And the stove is a german Enders 'Benzin Baby', great little stove ! the fact that you got it to burn diesel and kerosene at all is pretty amazing !

Code name the U.S. Army uses, for "Motor vehicle gasoline". It just means gasoline. Especially for lawn mowers, and what-not. ;) 8)
