Our income tax was started as a temporary tax, to pay off the war with Spain, in 1898 !!!
Temporary !
Now we have a Law, that says we cannot remove a tax unless we replace it with a higher tax....

We have such a thing on our fuel as well.. but introduced in 1991 as a temporary way to make the budget fit..
It's called "het kwartje van kok" the quarter from .. kok (it's a name  ) it was FL 0,25 gulden (guilders?)
On every litre of fuel.. and guess what, we still have it.. but it became €0,25 (FL 2,20 gulden = € 1 euro)
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

Hi,
we had a car tax, a sticker we had to put on the windshield (-screen for the Brits). I was created after the War to help the old persons, they never got one cent from that tax. The bigger your car was, the higher the tax.
I was suppressed in 2001 but now the Government miss it and they want to creat a new "green" tax, higher on cars generating polution (yes, the yellow and red German stickers).
My new (2001!) car has the green sticker, let's hope they won't change the rules...

(BTW Housil, your Kaiser had some strange ideas, the Champagne wine was all made by German families living in France: Pieper, Heidsieck, Taittinger, Von Mumm... )

Hmm, very realistic. I had an accident three weeks ago (my Peugeot car's dead) and in that movie they really show what you feel when it happens (even if I'm not a blonde  ).

ak70 your right  but it's probably exactly what your telling, we have a lot of problems with gipsies around here.. (skimming money machines and selling fake gold, stealing cars along the highway parkingspots..) one problem; they all have romanian or bulgarian cars.. they have bad reputation ;) but I understand that the most "real" romanian share this opinion with us ;) that's why we always joke about it around here..

But no worries.. we also have a lot of german jokes in the Netherlands, that are far.. fár better

You missed something...

1st: As Cracker said, is normal over here to joke about neighbor countries and their images. (Dutch => Camping trailers, UK => driving at wrong side, French => eating frog legs, Swiss => being slow ...)

2nd: It was a "warning" to Cracker that there are countries they don´t have that affluence like we western Europeans have

and at least, YES "we" western Europeans have a problem with East European countries.
"They" come over here often as criminals - not the guypsies only - for pishing credit card number from banks, stealing copper fromm the roofs a night, burglary, pick pockets, fraud...

Let me tell you my own story from last month:

An obviously East European looking guy walked down the street we live (dirty, unshaved, dirty and ripped clothings), directing two underaged girls (~ 10 & 12) left and right, ringing each door, spying who and how many living there, if there is a dog etc.. Followed by a car with Easteuropan license plate...

When they were at our house, I instandly called police and reported a "neighborhood watch".
Police found an encampment somewhere in the woods with underaged children and some adaults, preparing crimes in three different counties!!!
30% of the crimes in Germany are done by foreigners - 30% to much

But as long as you still using faul language, posting semi nude pics of "women", overarmed cars, feeling offended "every time" like typical East European mentality... what should we think about you?!

When in rome do as the romans do

You make me rolling on the floor, laugh loud...

"30% of the crimes in Germany are done by foreigners - 30% to much". Yeah, and the rest of 70% are done by the honest, law obedient and disciplinated Germans, isn't?

"But as long as you still using faul language, posting semi nude pics of "women", overarmed cars, feeling offended "every time" like typical East European mentality... what should we think about you?!"

Last time I check (30 seconds ago) pictures of my "women" are still in place. So, I think no one complain about it. I'm still here, so I think my languange is in common sense limits, and I'm got tired to heard the same thing, again and again: Romanians = gypsy/criminals. Romanians are here, working in their own country.

I think you don't like to heard that all the Germans are Nazis.

Let's cool down, both of us, ok?

I put here an clip of Parazitii romanian hip-hop band, called Message for Europe. I think you'll understand better what I mean:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfygBMc7PN8

It's fauler languange than mine. Please don't be offended.

Cracker, that video was filmed not far from where I live in South Wales about about 15-20 miles away, town called Tredegar.

Thier accent and the way they talk is pretty much the way I speak. Just incase you wanted to know :D
