Esbit and Esbit-Cooker
so that means, maybe some of the stuff isnt even millitary stuff just because of VEB written on it... i seehousil wrote:VEB is for "Volkseigener Betrieb" (=people owend company), a typical comunistic term in the former DDR (GDR=German Democratic Republic or "East Germany" for short) for a state-owend company.German_EPA wrote:VEB is written on every military item i know.
Has nothing to do with military...
Privat property was proscribed in the DDR as "privat property" is a typical, capitalistic, western thing.
Every company, farm (were called LPG = landwirtschaftliche Produktionsgenossenschaft = agrarian production companionship) was property of the state
Hi,
that's "bouillon cube" in French, also made by Maggie, Knorr etc.
What a pity, I didn't see any East-German ration when I visited Germany in the early 90's, a lot of night-sights, radio sets, helmets, belts and caps on the flea markets, even one flak truck with the radar and the missile pods but still no rations...

I´m sorry to say this, but the DDR-orbitaplast is also just a "copy".German_EPA wrote:
i dont think so. why would an original esbit from VEB orbitaplast which was made 20 years ago (looks and smells like that - the plasic is crumbling) be i am reproduction oh china from today??? normally its sold without the esbit. that was the only stove which esbit.
and the guy i bought it from is a military saler. so i dont think this is not original.
You can´t call it genuine ESBIT. ESBIT is a trademark and not a synonym for all solid fuels (see trioxane or similar)

All the vehikles (767 aircrafts, 208 ships, 2.761 tanks, 133.900 wheeled vehikles... etc ) had been destroyed, or sold (e.g. to Turkey)... also the UCK irregular troops during the KOSOVO "war" had been dressed "suddenly" in former NVA uniforms...

Uniforms, equipment etc. you will get "everywhere", just google for NVA.
Rations is different:
As the NVA-rations had a "must-be-used-before-date", all the rations had been eaten or sent to a waste dump.
The NVA was "closed" in 1990, so the suppliers went out of production and no rations had been "left over" as all were throwen away by the officials ...
But I don´t think you missed anything. I was in east germany right after the border had opend and their food wasn´t anything you need to remember...

Heres a pic of my 1986 Esbit, A Blue Cheif(German made coffee heater-upper) and my good ol' MSR XGK. If only I had some coffee beans!, Oh yea, I need some deisel for the Blue Cheif, and 2 books of matches to get it lit.
