I have tasted roasted acorn, barley and chickpea and tastes ok. It has a unique nutty flavor each one.
Is a nice substitute for cofee but I will not change them for the real deal.

Due to the short cuts in late WW2, in Germany "we" tried many ways to substituted coffee by roasting e.g. malt ("Muckefuck") or sunflower seeds to make "Ersatzkaffee".

Not really related to this thread, except for the word "coffee" but I recall meeting some British army medics over in Desert Storm who absolutely hated tea.
Their preferred hot beverage was strong flavored coffee or strong coffee with at least one pouch of cocoa beverage powder and several spoonfuls of dry creamer. I was kinda surprised because it never occured to me that just because tea may be a tradition in the UK, it might not be necessarily shared by everyone there. I'm curious if any members of our forums here who are from the UK prefer coffee over tea.

Since we're wandering off topic (as is normal on forums)...
I'm not a coffee or tea drinker, however I enjoy two instant coffee packets in one cocoa packet, with the same or slightly more water than the cocoa calls for.
Truth be told, my 'festival breakfast' replaces the water with Irish Cream or some other ~20% alcoholic sweet beverage.

The cocoa-coffee combination is called "swiss mocha".
Couple of nights ago I made a cup by using instant Swiss Miss doublechocolate mixed with one envelope of Coffee Type I and it was awesome.

Ah yes Bypah, the swiss mocha is about my all-time favorite coffee flavor. At my local Walmart, I used to ask my wife to buy the general foods international coffees (now maxwell house, same ingredients, different name) but after finding out that the stuff was not very good for me with my type 2 diabetes, and that it was not a very good deal price-wise, I drink considerably less of it now. Another flavor I really like is hazelnut cream, but it is not much better for me unless I buy the brewing coffee without any sweetness added.

My favorite coffee drink - macchiato doppio
(double espresso with milk), especialy while inRome...

I'm curious housil, do you notice any kind of an aftertaste with that stuff? Pretty much everything I have tried that is sweetened with anything but sugar I have noticed an aftertaste with. Also we have something over here called "Postum" which is a coffee substitute, but I'm not sure how it is because I've never tried it. Another thing I have noticed is that the popular brands of dry creamer that are artificially sweetened will often list the sweetener near the end of the ingredients on the label, and they will often contain more than one sweetener, including sugar!
