New British/US military uniforms
Re: New British/US military uniforms
Is that so-called 'multi-cam' pattern really in use? I thought it was something that some companies just started making.... like copies of the Vietnam tiger stripes, whcih I think was the coolest design ever. Is multi-cam in use anywhere now? I don't particularly like it.
Through history I have never been a fan of a lot of stuff Canada uses... I hated the FN. I hated the green camo. I hated that our navy wore the same uniform as the army.
Then in the '80s things started changing.... we bought F-18s, we built the Halifax-class frigates, we started using the C-6, C-7 and C-8, we changed to CADPAT... and now we're buying the new stealth fighters. I'm likin' this stuff.

Multicam was first a civil camo made for, but rejected by the military. However, when entering afghanistan, several units actually started issuing them to their forces.
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Stick,
I just put in a response over in a thread. To answer your question "yes" the US Army has authorized MultiCam on a limted basis for units and soldiers going to the A-stan over the ACU and the really horrible and gay looking ACU-D version.
Right now the SPEC-OPS and Special Forces community is wearing them and when the new year starts soldiers will get a limited issue when they hit the ground: mostly body armor and uniforms based on the ACU design but less velcro. Some field gear will be in Multicam but not everything.

That Swiss Alpenflage is a modified copy of a very rare WW2 German pattern designed in 1945. I think it was called leibermuster, all of the originals have faded but here is a pic of a repro
Here is the new British pattern

Adrian, Give it a few more months and it should be more available, most units issued it are still in Afghanistan so not a lot of surplus yet, there is some on ebay.co.uk but right now it might not be true surplus...things do go missing from army stores is you get me
Gaz

But I love the boots! I always loved tmilitary boots! I had a pair of Magnum Amazons, was terrific boots, I broke a pair of Bates M9s, so I'm looking for a pair of military mountaineering boots for winter Search and Rescue training stage... I think I'll pick up something from german Lowa.

I personally recommend Meindl over Lowa. Meindl has a longer life (they can take some more "punch" in my eyes).

Re: New British/US military uniforms
Is someone kind enough to check the local "market" and give me the prices for Bundeswehr mountaineering boots (Lowa Mountain Boot GTX) and British Army boots (I heard is made by Lowa, also) or some Meindl military mountaineering boots, new, at surplus stores? If is also willing to buy a pair for me or to trade them for some items, I wait for a PM.
