Well I was born and raised on the Caribbean were we have a strong coffee tradition.
Puerto Rico used to be one of the top producers of coffee in the 19th and early part of the 20th centuries. We still provide the Vatican with the coffee that is served to the Pope.
My family used to own a mid scale coffee plantation in the center of the island and we produced oranges and two of the best coffee beans in the world, arabica and robusta. Both are different and produce a different taste of coffee. Robusta has twice the caffeine as the arabica beans so it pack a punch in every cup.
Anyway, sadly the plantation was sold after my great uncle passed away, instead we have only the memories and the knowledge of what a good cup of coffee is.

I like my coffee strong and specially from any brand of my homeland.I always get mine from my folks when they send me their "care packages" full with stuff from PR.
One of the best brands is "Madre Isla" , is artisan made from local production and is as fresh as you can get. You can buy it on the web. Simply google it.
I usually have it black straight up with a little of sugar ("moscabada" or brown sugar the better...) or "cortadito" which is coffee with a little of milk (no creamer!!)and sugar. Also I simply warm the mixture of coffee and milk on a small sauce pot with the sugar until is almost boiling and serve it....yummmmmm!!!!! Is nice and frothy on a cup, Eat that Starbucks!!!!!
The closest to our taste is the turkish/middleeastern style of coffee strong and sweet.

Here were I live they DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRINK OR MAKE COFFEE!!!!! They use Folger's ...yukkkk!!!! and they give it to you watered down like tea. Sorry folks.... people are used to the mass production of colombian and brazilian coffees that sacrifice quality for quantity.

I use the "greca" or italian coffee esspresso machine.

Or I also use the old fashioned "colador" or strainer, the poor man's esspresso machine. Put the water ,add the coffee and let it boil.Then strain the liquid coffee with this strainer and serve.....

Well I hate to admit it I usually drink Folgers but I always make it strong..I bought Seaport dark roast a few times actually like it better but I have to go to a different store to get it..I have a small coffee pot similar to the one pictured but out of stainless steel..It has a pressure valve on it..LOL I am always afraid it will explode..I will have to order some Madre Isla and give it a try..I see it comes in jars..
Hope everything is well in Tornado Alley as they said the Midwest had over a hundred tornadoes....All we had was some wind and rain here...

Actually the coffee maker on the top is not presurized so it will not blowup...lol
She will tell you when the coffee is done.
We had severe damage in the NW part of the state. The city of Woodward gott hit pretty bad. 5 people died,3 of them children and millions of dollars in damage.Their tornado sirens got knocked out by lightning so the only warning came from a storm chaser of a local newstation.
Then the other was in the city of Norman where a day earlier a tornado messed up part of the downtown.

Talking about this kind of exchanges, I had a can of Apfelwein (german apple cider) from sw342pd, was a very good eye-opener about this culture of Germany. Also, if you can get, maybe you'll arrange a trade with our friend Luis, the spanish Lepanto brandy/cognac is the very best I drank ever! I fully encourage you all to taste this wonder!

PS. I didn't forget your request for a bottle of romanian Stalinskaya vodka, work is in progress.

I guess I can weigh in on the Pacific Northwest version. In this section of America we probably drink far coffee than anybody especially living so close to Seattle. Given the temperate climate, and several coffee chains around here (i.e. Starbucks was started in Seattle), and the fact you can find a coffee stand on every corner in every town, I'd like to think we've got it all covered.

For me when I go to work I usually drink the Starbucks medium Colombian blend, it's full bodied enough with enough caffeine. Then for a switch up I go for the Starbucks Pike Place Roast, which used to be one of their originals way back when and now its making a comback. Very, smooth but bold tasting. Good way to perk up the breakfast.

Bro, I'm still waiting. It says the parcel came out of the ISC-NY customs last Tuesday (3/4) ans is "in transit").
They kept it almost a week in customs.
As soon as I get it I will let you know about the coffee.

What rations has the best coffee?

Hi Bobby, I'm not much of a coffee drinker and if, I prefer the regular brewed coffee. ( skip the Starbucks types like cream this... and vanilla that...coffee whatever)
w.r.t. the army/ration coffee. didn't drink any yet that I disliked, so most of 'm are ok to good i.m.o.
So ok is the coffee from the Dutch, US, UK, German, Norway and French rations'. I hope I didn't forget any.
