Really Hungry.
Like no food for days.
In those situations, the dog will be eying you!.
Correct.
And I hope to never be that hungry. :(

That's one of the main reasons I do prep.

In my youth, I did many dawn-to-dusk fasts, and still do two per year (i.e. religious observations).
Those are only "rough" psychologically, but are such that I have strong sympathy for those who are truly hungry, and I do accept that someone truly hungry would eat a pet.

perhaps you could do a pet taste test?
Since you asked, It was sweet, and a lot like Pork...
LOL and :cring:
Oh, did I ever walk into that!

Ok, seriously folks, if anybody has some spare lifeboat rations, how about offering a small tidibit to your pet, and see if the pet is willing to eat it? Maybe even put about a 100-calorie portion in their food dish, with nothing else, and leave it for about half a day?

The point here is to use our superior reasoning ability to plan for our four legged friends.
The OP's question was excellent. :)

Please give her a virtual high-five from me.

The important thing is the spices.

At least my little minpin eats everything that we eat.
When I was growing up I remember my grandfather which always kept his ole' dog well fed with plain cornmeal mush or plain rice made with the leftovers ( meat scraps etc...) so that's a good option if for some reason you run out of dog food or donn't have it available.
