They are newly produced M1As

only the fallujah one is an M14..
Not dusted early vietnam era full auto M14s, but brand new semi auto M1As to be exact
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1A_rifle
Check on wikipedia M14 that's where I got the pics....
and not only there but I have read articles that they mentioned that have reintroduced the M-14 to be used by the Marines and other branches....

Ans as dirtbag mentioned the Marines never gave up their stockpiles of M14's. They have found that is better than the M4's, M16 's variants in the desert....

so they saved a lots of moolah to the DoD in dusting off those reserves instead of introducing a brand new rifle....

Yeap, a nice example of fine Swiss/German engineering, a AMSD OM.50 Nemesis, topped with excellent Schmidt & Bender PMII 6-24x50. It's a nice hand cannon.

Accuracy of the OM 50 rifles in field (real-life) conditions is described as 0,5 MOA at 300 meters and sub 1 MOA at 1000 meters; in testing, while fired by an experienced USMC sniper, OM 50 rifle shot 6x5 cm (about 2 1/2 inch) groups at 1000 yards (911 meters), which accounts for sub 0,25 MOA accuracy. The gun has already been commissioned with various police and military special operation forces.
Sounds nice..
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Trust me, it was amazing to see an engine block blown in pieces with only one bullet at 800 meters away... It's a dead horse to carry, but if you really want to stop something, it will stop. But my fav is good ol' Dragunov SVD. Second best - Accuracy International AWSM .338 Lapua Magnum. Third, guys, please give me an Rem700P!

I can definitely say that back in late 2004 and early 2005 my Army National Gaurd unit was issued the M1A's. We had 4 of them for our Combat Engineer Company and one was in my platoon. When we first got it in 2004 I literally checked the barrel data and sure enough it wasn't a M14 like I thought but a M1A. Not sure what scope we used back then, that and once we re-deployed back home I'm not sure where the M1A's went too. I would have loved to see one in action.

Reports were that M14's were being issued for the squad designated marksman role some years ago but now they have an M4 variant to fill that role..

I got out of the US Navy 32 years ago, and at that time, the ship I was on carried about 50 M-14's, about 12 M-60's, more Colt 1911 .45 pistols than I can count.
Along with Remington Riot shotguns, m-79 grenade launchers.
And some M-2 .50 cals.
No Matty Mattel tinkertoys! (M-16 and variants)
I did hear something about Clinton having a bunch of M-14's ground up...
