I'm BHV (bedrijfshulpverlener) = company first aid..

So first aid (not with AED, thats seperate), fire fighting (with a extinguisher / hose) and evacuating / hostile customers stuff..

Just the basics, it's off some help.. but in worser cases it's simply not enough, but I think everybody should get basic first aid training in school. Even when it are only the primary basics, like never move someone with possible spinal inguries (unless in danger because of fire etc), how to react when someone has a bleeding, when someone has a seisure, etc..

that's simple and quite cheap, not with certificate, but just the basics. Countless people still die every year because the ambulance is to late. Not only because the ambulance is to slow, but simply because in some situations, every second counts..
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

I am certified already, and have "touch ups" every year, but I ment that people should already learn at school what to do..

There are to many people simply left to die, because no one knows the basics on the street.. :| there should simply be someone untill the ambulance arrives, that knows what he/she's doing..

edit: I had to laugh about that manual..

The old price was 12,99 pounds.. now it's 9,99 pounds.. amazon offers 11 new books, for 9,99 pounds....

And.. one used book for the old new price of 12,99 pounds...

by the way.. there is a looot of offtopic in this forum, and there is no room for other "conversations" turning topics into slowchats.. I'm guilty as hell about that, but maybe it's a nice idea to start a "random talk" topic, to discuss everything that doesn't belong in the topics? Can I make such a topic, and if allowed, can someone make it a sticky?

This is what I call pretty. Steyr Scout rifle in .308(7.62 Nato). This is an internet picture, I don't own it, but it's #1 on my want list. Designed with the help of LTC Jeff Cooper(RIP). 8)

the weight balance is simply wrong in the rifle.. doesn't matter with a bipod.. but definitly not accurate when shooting unsupported..

When using a bipod it shoots nice though, but doesn't really feel "natural" when holding it..
I'd prefer a accuracy international or a sako.. but I'm not really into bolt action anymore (except for the portugese K98, 1937)

ps. how do you attach a picture?

edit: never mind.. found the tab, looked over it yesterday.. I'll post some pics when i get home

Depends what you want to use it for. In my case, hunting the Whitetail, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, of Virginia. Thats my point. I have a habit of laying down in a good spot, ambushing the 4 legger, or maybe, jumping an 8-pointer, on the way down the mountain, when the EER scope might come in handy, at 10-20 meters. 8)
After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!

As long as you can rest it on something, it should not cause a problem, the weight is simply to much to the front.
Because all the weight rests on one arm in that case, it's very hard to keep it stable while aiming..

But, the quality of the Steyr rifles (and the barrels) are superb, it's simply a handling problem..
(You have to pay for that aswell though  )

I'd prefer a M03 or M98 (modern K98 from mauser) or a Remington 700 (very cheap) over a Steyr for the hunting role myself..
I don't know if they have the M03/M98 in America (because of those rules with so many parts should be american etc..) but if they have one somewhere, you should really try picking it up.. great rifle

The scout and AWM/AWP from accuracy international are not really hunting weapons, more longerange military/law enforcement weapons. They are nice, but have their limitations, but I guess if you use it static 90% off the time, it wouldn't make such a big difference..

as far as rifles go, this is my baby:
Image
mosin-nagant m44 carbine, chambered for 7.62x54r of course*

no bipod for me, although sometimes a benchrest is nice
With the bayonet folded in, the weight distribution is pretty good, with the bayonet Out and locked however, my aim gets throne off something fierce (for kicks and giggles, was shooting at watermelons with bayonet out, from a kneeling postion, distance maybe 20 feet, and i missed every single shot X_X , with bayonet folded in, watermelon exploded on the first round)

havent gone hunting yet although im pretty sure i could, although id have to find a scope mount for it

*for those who might not know, heres a nice comparison shot of bullets
on the left, is a .22lr, next is 7.62x25, third is 7.62x39 (what teh ak fires), and last, is the 7.62x54r, its beast of a round)

I picked up a $89 Mosin Nagant M-91/30 this year, Not much for pretty, but hell for stout rifle!!!
I bought a sardine can of surplus ammo for it, That 7.62x54 kicks pretty hard! Corrosive too, so you have to clean with ammonia window cleaner...
Fun plinker, pretty accurate for a 65 year old battle rifle too.
I'd use it for a deer gun, but the safety sux...
