Now your thinking. I would never have thought the FBI was in on it. I was just talking about a typical T-34 chute, used by US AB troops. Maybe they made some in Hot Pink color. So?

Dave,

I don't know about color schemes for parachutes, I have seen in older photos that most, if not all of them, were blaze orange/white color for a long time. Now they use some other colors. I just figured that if Cooper wanted civilian skydiving chutes, like the RAM-AIR, that civilian colors would have been seen from along way off even from the air. I just find it strange that nothing of the chutes was ever found. This kind lends credit to the fact that he safely landed and cover all of his tracks.

Also the Wikipedia article mentioned something like the FBI gave hime 4 chutes but one or two were dummy chutes that could not be opened. That I can not figure out.

Hmmm, good idea. Only God knows. Still, why is all of a sudden the FBI interested in it. Must contact George Noory and Art Bell about this. This is one of the top 10 mysteries of the United States history. :?

Dave,
LOL, yes, let's get Art Bell into this one. :) I actually have been a long time listener on his show and he makes some very good points. Maybe he can generate more leads on his show than the FBI?

But on a serious note, I don't know why the FBI would re-open a case like this. I'm sure somewhere down the road D.B. will re-surface or somebody will find his remains. I'm glad that the FBI would use modern science to create a more current profile of the guy. Who knows, maybe somebody's memory might be jogged by this.

Another point that I cannot figure out is the area supposedly he jumped into. That part of WA state was pretty remote in 1972 but you would think that somebody would have seen this guy in the area of the Drop Zone or even in some more populated part of the state or US.

I saw the Dateline show Kman is talking about and I think the guy died at the scene personally. That show was AMAZING! They recreated all the details of how he probably made the chute, the bag for the money...everything...very detailed. They concluded by saying that it was almost guaranteed to be one man, but a year or so after the program aired he was excluded by DNA. There was one or two movies made about the man, but I think a current 2008 version of the story would be intriguing as hell. I would go see it for sure. Very fascinating story.

DB Cooper = fish food, I think!

Dave,

Well, that much I won't argue about, there is some link to that idea. Remember in the story, a kid just happened along some of the money in 1980 along the banks of the Columbia? I would agree that maybe he did hit the ground or water on impact a little too hard and got washed away.

That would kind of give another strange twist of if he did drown where did his body wind up? And the rest of the money?

If they did do another story or movie on him I would go to see it. Dave do you remember in the Dateline episode whehter they re-created the jump from the airline as well? You know if somebody could re-create the jump over the same area under the same conditions I bet you the FBI would be conducting another search in the area!

I mean let's think about this: let's say two jumps with a load similar to a bag of money and one without. From there I bet you could get a pretty good area to look in. Same parachutes and maybe a person the same size and weigh as D.B. I bet that would really be interesting!

Believe it or not. George Noory got the message, and did "the full hour" with some "Dan Cooper" specialist, last night on CoasttoCoast AM. I think Ian did the show. Hells Bells.
