They are freeze-dried.
Imagine a "Ritter-Sport-Schokolade", similar size and shape.
Open the bag, pour in some water and wait...

Sorry German EPA, from these “old” Peaches I have only one pouch, so I won’t open it!
But I have more pouches of “Peaches” that are a little bit “younger” (1985-1987). Next weekend I will open one of it and post some photos, dry and reconstituted!

If it will save mreheater72 the trouble of opening one, I had consumed some of those freeze dried fruit packages back in the mid-late 80s. When reconstituted with water, they look and taste like their canned fruit counterparts without the syrup. Nothing extraordinary.

Hi,

here are some photos of the „Peaches“:

The pouch is stamped 9154, so it seems to be from 1989:

Here is the dried fruit. In the „early“ freeze dried fruit items there was an additional transparent pouch for reconstituting the fruit, here it is already missing:

A close up of the dried peaches:

Here are the reconstituted peaches:

The taste was good, what should happen with are freeze dried item? I think it’s still edible in hundred years.
