Soviet IFV protective systems

Post by rationtin440 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 9:44 pm

Just curious if anyone here from UK or Europe knows if their armed forces vehicles currently have or had a similar system as on the Soviet IFVs and main battle tanks whereby a small "squib" charge would automatically shut the hatches on the vehicle in the event of a nuclear detonation with the squib being activated by the burst of gamma rays (alledgedly). I've read accounts of Soviet crew-members losing fingers during simulations when the hatches would slam shut.
