Scary Documentary Book
"Through the Eyes of the Enemy," by Stanislav Lunev, ISBN 0-89526-390-4, describes among other things, the caches of Soviet spetsnaz weapons and equipment (including backpack nukes and chemical weapons) that were hidden near AT&T communications bunkers and government command bunkers, as well as other targets on the east coast of the U.S. during the cold war. It also discusses plans by the Soviets to target civilian and military leaders here during prelude to war. Very interesting reading!

Ration tin 440,
Just what happened to all of the underground caches on the East coast after awhile?

Not to sound like I'm evading the question Treesuit, but I really don't know. It certainly seems interesting that with our media on the watch for stories to embarrass our military and intelligence people, I cannot recall a single incident involving the discovery of one of these caches over the years. Soooooo, either this Lunev guy is/was feeding dis-information to America, or he mebbe got passed over for promotion and wanted some pay-back by making up false intel. Of course, he could be telling the truth and our own gov't was somehow able to "convince" the media not to report on any discoveries that WERE made......riiiiiiight!

Re: Scary Documentary Book
Of course, depending on how well protected/packaged they were, they may have deteriorated to an unuseable condition (not sure how though with Ak-47/-74 assault rifles and the other stuff that the Russians made to last nearly forever).

Re: Scary Documentary Book
So the Sovs infiltrated suitcase nukes into the continental US?
Were parties landed from Sov subs etc? Technically that means the states was invaded.
Do you think its a reliable source?

Unfortunately, book is out of print.
This might have been a one time -- one shot deal for the guy.
Authenticity might have been called into question.

rationtin440,
Okay, is there any other info out there either to back up this claim or dis-prove it? I mean this guy who wrote the book, obviously for whatever reason he wrote this info, somewhere, somehow, somebody must have looked into his claim(s). I understand this was a one shot book deal and the guy threw some stories out there but when the book went to the publisher did anybody look into his claims? If so there might be some other info out there or maybe some snippets from de-classified govt' documents, etc, etc.

I really wish I had more information to share but before I got this book, I'd never even heard of this guy. What sparked my interest was that it reminded me of stuff I've seen and heard on Mark Koernke's and Alex Jones' radio shows and websites about foreign and UN troops on American soil and occupying closed military bases. http://www.infowars.com http://www.libertytreeradio.4mg.com

In relation to Soviet penetration of the states during the cold war the answer is yes! Don't think of it as a one-way street. We did it to them also. Soviet 'special forces' penetrated Alaska. Ive seen photos of equipment caches discovered in the early-mid 80s by the Inuit Scouts. You can't hide anything in Alaska without the Inuits seeing it from a mile away. And no matter how hard a well-trained Soviet special forces soldier is or how thorough his cover story, forget it. The Inuits will 'smell him out' in 30 seconds or less. They just know who belongs there and who doesn't. You can be 500 miles away from any person at night, drop trousers to cop a squat, suddenly realize you forgot your T.P. and an Inuit Scout will be six inches away turning on a flashlight saying 'Here.. use mine!'
Don't forget that we also have(?)/ had the 'DEW' (Distant Early Warning) system set up there to detect ballistic missile launches from over the polar ice cap. During the winter months our two 'territories' are only separated by a solid ice sheet that can support heavy armor. I believe the two opposing land masses were called or nicknamed 'little diomead' and 'big diomead' - not sure of that or the spelling. But basically two islands that were only about a 1/2-mile apart, or something like that. One of the contingency plans involved repelling an attack by a massive Soviet thrust across this ice-land 'bridge' using really bad winter weather conditions as cover. Like we unintentionally used at Normandy.
But like I said, we did it to them as well. The Cold War was one big 'Tit-for-Tat' fought between two spheres of influence thru proxy actions. Me personally... I don't think the Soviets collapsed. When 'white rule' in South Africa ended the Marxists demanded and received their show trials where those who enforced the policies would be forgiven in exchange for admitting their duplicity. And to the Marxists credit, they forgave them. Nothing the white rule government did in South Africa comes close to the 50+ million people the Soviet 'system' starved or ground into ashes. And don't forget that the 'final solution' may have been the Reich's idea but the methodology originated from the Soviets. This became a joint effort until the 'paper-hanger' turned east and kicked Ol' Uncle Joe right square in the pants. So even though many say the Soviet Union collapsed it really hasn't. You would think after what it did to its own people that had that 'system' actually collapsed they would have rounded up the butchers by now. There would be such a back log of cases for 'crimes against humanity' and 'genocide' alone that even those who commited such attrocities their first day on the job a week before the supposed collapse would die of old age by the time an investigator knocked on their door!
Nobody has gone to trial. Nobody will go to trial. Those who fed the machine are well compensated for simply retiring quietly to their dacha in a secure neighborhood where they live peacefully so long as they don't 'air' anyones dirty laundry. The uniforms have been put away and now they wear tailored suits. Its the same dog with a new set of fleas....
