If you visit NYC that's a place to walk around. 42nd street is also walkable from Broadway and 68th Street. 42nd Street has been cleaned up a great deal during the Giuliani Administration.

We tried to get a trip for christmans shopping this year, but when gas was hight, flights were als to expansive for 3 persons...
NCY was the most exciting city trip to me I ever did.
As my father lived in the States in 1962 in Miami and NYC, I was following his tracks in 2001 (Miami) and 2002 (NYC), visiting the same places he has been and comparing the pictures from 40 years later.
