Former US and German Army Training Area „TENNENLOHE“

Post by mreheater72 » Mon May 05, 2008 2:49 pm

Hi guys,

today I used my free day for a trip to the former US and German Army Training Area „TENNENLOHE“ northwest of Nürnberg (Nuremburg) with my bike. The training here stopped with the begin of the nineties with withdrawal of US troops from Nuremberg (Bavaria Germany). Today the site is a nature protection area. I ride higgledy-piggledy 33 km through the area, enjoyed the nice weather and great scenery and took some photos:

By the way I found some empty dark brown MRE pouches, an earplug case, some pads from tank chains an even some empty cartridges.

MreHeater:

Good photos. I've planning a similar base show and tell for these forums including a bike excursion. I think you will enjoy them.

Stay Tuned.

I enjoyed the photos, thank you for sharing them.

Don't know if this has already been covered here, but there are quite a few 'urban exploration' websites that deal with abandoned Cold War installations, e.g.:

http://www.century20war.co.uk/index.html
http://www.subbrit.org.uk/rsg/index.shtml
http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/for ... ay.php?f=3 - this site has closed, but the forum archives remain

Yesterday my nephew and me again made a tour in “Tennenlohe”, former US training area under guidance of German forum member “Alter Mann” :D . Here are some photos:
