I spent 10 years and some odd days in the Marines before jumping ship and going over to the Army. Since 1998 I have been in and managed to become an officer. I thought being a platoon sargent was quite a thrill, but nothing beats being a platoon leader.

Having those soldiers under your care and having to go through all the same stuff they have to.
Man, I now know what LT. Dick Winters was talking about when he was a LT and wrote about his experiences in WWII. Sometimes it can be a real pain in the ass but it's well worth it sometimes. I've been on one combat tour as a LT and I forsee another looming in the not-to-distant future but during the tour is when you find out who you really are and what your made off. After that nothing in life comes close.

"Do not attack the First Marine Division. Leave the yellowlegs alone. Strike the American Army."
Orders given to Communist troops in the Korean War;
shortly afterward, the Marines were ordered
to not wear their khaki leggings.
