Hey Para,
Greetings from another Montanan! I just wanted to say thanks for posting this info. I just picked up a used one for $20 and converted it to 12v. Works awesome, will be great for hunting this fall.

Resurrecting this thread because I just bought one. $31 delivered and it arrives tomorrow.

How do you heat water with it? Will a plastic 500 ml water bottle fit inside? How were troops supposed to heat water with it as they don't issue water bottles or bagged water.

Ah so you got that one haha.

I’ve been trying to buy one for a month but keep losing out or the price keeps going stupid high.
All the best, Gents.

Yeah, I've been watching a string of them for a few weeks and some have gone stupidly high and some I forgot to follow-up at auction close time. One more bid would have gotten this one away from me.

Oh, I "pimped" my 151 during the restoration... :D

They work great...

I do have the 2nd iteration, aka the 'Combat Crockpot" but it is too large and not historically accurate for the M151.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anybody knows of a source where I can find replacement parts for the vehicle ration heater? I just picked one up last weekend and while it was cheap, and in very good condition, the "on and off" switch is missing. Looks like some asshat cut it out. Everything else looks great on it and I would live to try and convert it over to a cigarette lighter plugin for road trips. Thanks
