Chili Mac

Post by Tedster » Thu Aug 06, 2015 2:42 pm

Pretty sure there is an actual Chilimac entree, I usually install a Cheese Spread packet to make it more palatable. Today I was hungry for a snack and decided to experiment. The Chili w/ Beans "should" be an easy meal to make tasty I should think, sadly this is not the case, imo. It tastes as if something is missing, although many commercial varieties are very sweet. More actual chili powder (not red pepper) wouldn't hurt, Anyway I found a Mexican Macaroni & Cheese and made my own.

Not bad! NOW it tastes "good enough" I added a few spices and a hunk of Velveeta (yes, I know) and it passed my rigourous Snack Standard 3.7.1 Better than the actual ChiliMac entree.

It is a good meal that you can make from U.S. MRE components. As I see you just did.
Fills you in a way the Chili and crackers cannot

I mixed the old (2006?) Pasta butter flavor with the Chili with beans and a pack Jalapeno cheese.
That gave me a good wintertime meal, making your own mix and match is best way to go with certain rations
