Tricks for WWII German rations and British 24-hour rations

So, I'll be ordering a German iron ration and British 24-hour ration from www.reprorations.com. I wanted to see if there were any tips or tricks for using them. Not sure if this goes here or in the foreign section.

The British rations are faaaaaar from authentic :|
