BEANWICH BOMBERS
Hi guys,
today I tested a recipe out of the UNOFFICIAL MRE RECIPE BOOKLET from TABASCO (second edition 2001?) .
Here is the photo review:
The UNOFFICIAL MRE RECIPE BOOKLET from TABASCO (second edition 2001?):
Recipe BEANWICH BOMBERS:
Ingredients still in pouches/card board at one glance (Western Style Beans 2003, Wheat Snack Bread 2007, Cheese Spread 2009, Tabasco 2007):
Heating the pouch of Western Style Beans in boiling water:
The pure Wheat Snack Bread on the plate:
The Cheese Spread pouch with cut a little corner for “drizzling”:
White Snack Bread with Western Style Beans on top:
Finished BEANWICH BOMBERS after "drizzling" with Cheese Spread:
Finished BEANWICH BOMBERS close-up with melted Cheese Spread:
Now to the taste: It was ok, not bad, but not really great . The “mixture” of the wheat bread and the beans is a little bit dry . The pure Western Style Beans I like more than that recipe, but of course I would eat it again .
So long mreheater72

Nice pics, you wouldn't happen to know a source for that book? I would be interested in getting one for my collection.

I bought mine at ebay.com (1985 issue). Here is a link to the 2001 (?) issue:Morwin wrote:Nice pics, you wouldn't happen to know a source for that book? I would be interested in getting one for my collection.

Those are great, I will have to try out a few of the recipes soon. Thank you very much for the link.
Re: BEANWICH BOMBERS
You'll probably find that most of the recipes include adding Tobasco sauce. That's 'cause it is published by the McIlhenny Company, who owns the Tobasco brand name. You can get a copy directly from McIlhenny at their web store, http://countrystore.tabasco.com/prodinf ... mber=04845 . It is priced at $5.50

Thanks MCIera, I will be putting in an order for one for the collection shortly. You just made my day.

I realize there's a two-year lapse in this reply, but I'm new here.
This is reminiscent of the classic British breakfast item "Beans on Toast." I make it often with regular kitchen supplies.
One slice of buttered toast
Warmed baked beans to generously cover the toast
One fried egg
Sprinkle of grated cheese
and of course - hot sauce.
Assemble in that order. Enjoy.
