Other Uses

TreeSuit:

You're not the first person that said I should write stories. I've sure got lots to tell. Your book idea is a good one. It would complement the book on MRE recipes and so forth.

I've put that beverage bag to great use. The Epic Center sells them in lots of 100 and there not expensive. The strength of the bag makes them useful.

I've got another idea planned for these forums on the actual MRE bag itself.

But I'm out of bags.

If you didn't want to do a booklet, you'd always be welome to do some pages for the site. I know I encourage people to send pics and reviews in and I post them as soon as I can. But if anyone wanted to take that a step further and actually put the html for the pages together, I'm sure that would speed the process up tremendously.

I've been sending goodies to Iraq and to compliment delivery I love using the Beverage Bag. This is just an example of what you can use it for. But the uses are limitless. The Beverage Bag is a Lifesaver.

GPS

Protection from the rain and a functional GPS. To cool it off while trying to use your GPS unzip the ziplock. I love this little bag.

Tea Lights

Post by jfko6 » Wed May 07, 2008 9:38 pm

Many survivalists recommend keeping tea light candles for emergency situations. At least, I'm assuming, for your minimalist kit. I've had little success with these in the field. They are hard to stay lit. But if you want to carry them and not get them wet, guess what the Beverage Bag is a neat place to store them in.

Is the bag printed on both sides? If not, it would be pretty hand for waterproofing a folded map.

I would imagine all these potential uses were considered in the design phase and influenced the final size & shape of the bag. Kinda like how the quality control tags in Aussie ration bags are intended to be reused as markers on terrain models, and the plastic bags themselves are great for keeping stuff dry when rolled up & resealed with tape.

Bag

The Beverage Bag is printed on one side, only. I tried fitting a local bus map inside the bag. It's a near perfect fit. This bag is a hit.

Matches

Post by jfko6 » Thu May 08, 2008 12:01 pm

Need matches for those tea light candles. The Beverage Bag can help with that. My personal preference for an MRE is one that contains matches. And in the civilian market I've found only one company that does that Long Life Food. Having spare matches when you need them is definitely a lifesaver.

Fruit

Chilled and ready to go these grapes will go right into your fruit bin in your refrigerator. With the help of the Beverage Bag that is.
