Post by German_EPA » Tue Jan 15, 2008 6:57 pm

my experiences:

if someone says you should cook tonight - just say:

"yes - you can choose from 24 meals. it will be ready in about 15 minutes."

belive me - you wont gonna cook tonight :D

:P Or even better:

"You can choose between 24 dishes, all around 5 years old, ready in 15 minutes"

That's not too far from the conversations lately in my house...my wife has been gone for the day and she'll ask "What's for dinner?". I'll say "Well, I have some Menu C MREs we can try or maybe we can try some of those 2007 MREs."

So it's either that or leftovers...MREs usually win. :-)

Well, she doesn't like them like I like them...which means she wouldn't be thrilled to eat them day in and day out. But she occasionally likes trying out the new MREs and rations from other countries that I bring in.

For example, the British rations were a bit hit with her because she loves the instant tea with whitener they include. That has to be her single most favorite ration part so far. But she also likes the Menu C MREs because they come with so many desserts and snacks that she can just eat the entree and crackers for the meal and then save the rest for lunch the next day.

Meh, my wife doesn't get it. She actually likes them, especially the deserts, but hates that I stockpile them.. I probably only own like.. 8-10 cases.. c'mon, they don't take up that much room in our tiny apt..

Well, I can't really say that she has any *favorites* right now. The best I can usually get is "that's not too bad". Spaghetti probably tops that list...and I can't even get her to try the Meatloaf. :-)

Talk about completely different viewpoints on the subject....when I see a 4 year old pouch of unheated military meatloaf, I think "Cool! I can't wait to try it!". When she sees that, she just shakes her heads gets as far away from it as possible.
