Try using warm water, too. I always use hot tap water with a bit of salt and I rarely have a problem, on rations up to about eight years old.

Great video, but one thing that surprised me was only using one side of the FRH!

why he didnt say to put things under the FRH as it emits heat both sides.

In my demonstration, I was using food items generously donated to me that day, and I didn't want to be greedy. On my own, I usually do heat two items with the FRH sandwiched between. The purpose of the demonstration was how to best use an FRH, and I hope that came across.

(Even after the cleanup and questions afterward, the beef stew I used in the demo was still piping hot. That was my lunch that day.)
