I didn't either, but for that price, it was worth the experiment. I'm glad I did too, I couldn't be happier with it!I had no idea that you could get away with jst switching out the plug...

Changing the plug wasn´t indeed a big deal (I´m was a service technician in electronics for 4 years).
Just cut the old one off, skin it and solder it to the car plug. Too bad I didn´t took any pictures.

Ebay.ca sellers want $80 PLUS $30 shipping! That's a Hell of a mark up as the exchange is not that bad.

Hey if it cooks the food (which it apparently does just fine) and it doesn't catch on fire then I'd say it was a job well done

Re: Ration Heater, Mounted Troops
Have seen that there are two of these on "The Bay Of Glee", sadly the postage, ( shipping ) to the U.K., is USD$31.00. Will wait if I can find one locally, i.e., Europe.

Hi Housil,
Many thanks for your offer of help.
I think I may have seen these at Militaria sales events I attend without actually knowing what they really are. My next Militaria sale is at Stoneleigh in the Midlands at the end of January, I'll have a good look around there.
Regards, norman.

Re: Ration Heater, Mounted Troops
Just so you will know when I read the topic header. Ration Heater, Mounted Troops I thought it was some sort of lightweight portable stove for Horseback Cavalry or Horse drawn Artillery crews troops circa 1900's to 1940's:D
Why Have I not seen this before
Who made the Ration Heater, Mounted Troops .. The Americans, the Germans, the Russians, the British or Commonwealth, the Italians, the Imperial Japanese? Who? Who?
How did this stove get past Me?
Does it run off Gasoline or Alcohol, maybe fuel tabs of some sort
I though I must see this !
If it will work for horseback troops it will work for canoe trips.
I must have one!
Then I see it is for modern Armored/Mechanized troops and has a power cord

Re: Ration Heater, Mounted Troops
So im getting curious how much power this pulls. I have some ac to dc converters for camping/off grid situations, wondering if it would work with them.
Re: Ration Heater, Mounted Troops
It has a 10 Amps fuse so it supposed to be less than 240Welandil wrote:So im getting curious how much power this pulls.
