Practical life of a Canadian IMP? 2011 likely to be still good?

Just got my hands on a couple of 2011 Canadian IMPs. I know the stated shelf life now is 3 years (from an article by Canadian Defense), but they also said that the components would still be safe for much longer. Kinda like US MREs. I know that storage conditions are the key factor.

So what do you guys think about some 2011s? If we assume they were stored reasonably well, will I find "good eats" in these meals? I have only eaten 1 IMP and it was from 2014 and tasted delicious!

I would have to say that my experience has shown that most IMP items don't hold up as well as US MRE items.
Hopefully it was stored well and you have the right menu and components for a bit more longevity.

The rations arrived today. They look good. I opened one to eyeball the ingredients and plan to eat that one this week: #1 Chinese Style Beef Macaroni. WTF? Does that mean "Beef Chow Mein?" It did come with two packets of soy sauce and no bread, peanut butter or jam. Will write up a review when I eat it. Pretty sure I have not seen any reviews of this menu before!

The other menus I got are: #2 Smothered Chicken; #3 Chicken Breast with Spicy Sauce; #4 Salmon Filet with Tuscany Sauce ; #4 Meat Loaf w/ Cabernet Sauce; #6 Stuffed Pasta with Ricotta.

Chinese Macaroni is a surprisingly popular dish in Quebec. Not sure about the provenance of it but you'll find it at a lot of Chinese restaurants and ready-to-eat sections in grocery stores. The current "Beef Macaroni" in IMPs is unfortunately "boring" ol' Beefroni.

The rest of those menus sound absolutely delicious, I hope they're all edible.
