Yes, President Bush himself stood in front of a Statue of Liberty-sized pile of British rations and German EPa's and personally burned them all.

If you're asking if the United States government ordered the destruction of some foreign rations (namely from Great Britain and Germany) that were sent in as hurricane aid, then yes, it appears to be true. Here are a few discussions we've had on this:

But if you're asking if the President personally ordered those rations to be destroyed so as to further hurt the victims of Katrina, then I doubt that was the case. This has all the earmarks of a typical bureaucratic fuck-up. Or maybe not even a fuck-up - more like plain incompetence on behalf of FEMA/USDA.

US goverment refused 20.000 (15 tons) German Bundeswehr EPa´s and denied the landing permit for a German Bundesluftwaffe (Air Force) Airbus with it´s food load. So it had to return back to Germany...

See (read) this for offical new´s:

Also sweden offered a shipment of rations for the victims, but the US goverment also refused this and let wait a plane full of rations for 6 days unload at the airport:

I´m sure you will find enough english articles about this topic ...

So you see, it´s not true
