G'day Everyone,
I've just been given this one from a bloke at work who's little brother is in Cadets & brought this one back from his annual Camp.
They are given to the Junior (School age) Army & Air force Cadets in Australia.
Never seen one of these before and was wondering if anyone else has?

- Australian Cadets Ration Pack
A lot of items in it, however, haven't opened it to get a full list of the contents.
Hope some of you like this as it is a bit different.

Similar bags are issued in the UK, they have slightly less contents than their bigger brothers. But yeah, I have never seen an Aussie one before, cool find!

I've seen different versions of the cadet pack and the commercial hunger buster varieties at several retails stores around the web. Never seen one "in the wild" though nice find.

Thanks guys
Yeah, this was definitely a big "WOW" moment for me. It may not be the coolest thing out there, but something new & different.

Wow, that's really cool! Thanks for sharing it here Dropbear! I can't say I'm an expert on Australian rations, but have certainly never seen or heard of those before. It kind of reminds me of the U.S. TOTMS in that it seems to be all genuine military ration components supplied by the government, but just a little less of it.

G'day gschultz9, thanks heaps for commenting mate.
Couldn't agree more... actually that would probably be the perfect example for a comparison.
Is the TOTM for Adults or Youths? I never actually thought about that!? LOL
I am looking forward to giving it a review... it actually reminds me a bit of the older CR1Ma as it does have a larger canned food item in it.

Interesting ration, I have never seen one of these before either! The TOTM is for use by adult soldiers in a training / garrison situation. The young Cadets that I saw when I was in the Army would come to various posts and do some training (Field problem / training exercise) like once a year, they would just be supplied regular MRE's to eat for 1-2 meals a day in the field.

Thanks for responding before I got a chance to get back cavguy! That's pretty much what I was going to say. But I did have another thought too. Yes, the TOTMs are indeed designed for adults who are in classroom or other non-field type training where less calories and nutrients would be needed. But, while they weren't designed for cadets/"kids", I wonder if anyone in cadet programs has ever considered using them as an MRE alternative for young 'uns. It would seem like a good idea!

Thank you Cavguy & gschultz for the information. I bet the kids get one hell of a kick out of getting to chow down on a full MRE while they are there!? LOL
It really is great to see that the US Military has put so much time & thought into the Rations & separating them into areas of use eg. MREs, MCW, TOTM, FSR & even the Hot weather.
Poor Aussies have just 2... CR1Ms & PR1Ms. LOL
