Thanks for the links. Those look like pretty cool videos. Anyone have any English subtitles? :-)

Ok...subtitles aside, can anyone provide a rough translation of what the videos are about?

How "rough"?!

Its about the story of the German Bundeswehr EPa (Individual Ration) from it´s beginning 50 years ago, untill today.
The development of newer rations for newer demands. With the end of the "cold war" in 1989, they concluded to reduce the storage of rations.
They also compared the Bundeswehr and NVA (former east german army) Rations.
With the new tasks, they recognized that a storage of 600.000 Ration will be necessary. So they developed new rations (EPa light) for their mission in Yugoslavia (SFOR, KFOR) Afghanistan (ISAF) a.s.o.
They explain that the rations are be packed by hand from 6 workers, 100.000 a year.

Packing from hand, early and still today:

Always a total amount of 600.000 in stock

That's perfect - thanks, housil. I figured that was what it was about but for a while there, it was looking more like history of just the German army from the cold war onwards. I got about halfway through the first video before I started fiddling around with my computer trying to figure out how to download and save both videos (which I eventually did).

You welcome :D

I can recommand you the WM Recorder:
http://www.chip.de/downloads/c1_downloads_13007351.html

Free downloand on english. I allways use it if I want to record a video stream. You can just paste the URL of the video and don´t have to watch it at its fully lenght.

They also talk about 20.000 EPA sendet to hurricane victims in new orleans. But they tell that nobody needed them.

What happened with these 20.000 Epa ?

best regards
