German EPA 1995

Post by Luke 1982 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 11:23 pm

I just picked up a 1995 German EPA Typ 2. Have any of you guys eaten one of these 21 yrs old? It looks to be in pretty good condition but I'm not sure of storage conditions.

I had one of those back in the day around 2002 or so.... so not that old. The EPA's hold up really well. Cheese may be bad thought, the small foil containers sometimes get pin holes, so watch for that!

A 1995 has these rectangular foil containers like the right one has:

They had a shelf life of 20 yrs - don´t worry

Thanks, I wasn't sure about the recommended shelf life. The only thing that's obviously gone bad by looking at the containers is a butter or cheese that had torn open. Somehow it didn't get on anything else though. The rest looks fine so far.

That was Cheese, 95ers didn´t had any butter.

Thanks guys. I liked the review on the 1993, it gave me some hope. I hope my Gulasch turns out better than yours did. I'll try it all out in the next week or so and take pictures. I might even do a review for comparison.

Doesn't tray food have a shorter shelf life compared to MREs? I hope for your sake it isn't spoiled, not too many older international rations are out there. It looks to be a real treat.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!
