Russian IRP Expiration Dates

Hey everyone, I had a quick question. I was looking at my IRP stock, and I noticed a couple of them expired a few months ago (April). We know that MREs are good far past their inspection dates with proper storage, but I'm wondering what the consensus is regarding IRPs. I've heard from some on here (who have a lot of experience with foreign rations, and whose opinions I trust) that you have to be careful with IRPs since they are more natural and don't rely as much on preservatives.

I guess my question would be, is the use by / expiration date on IRPs a firm date, or can they be expected to still be good 6 months after that (with proper storage of course)? All of my rations are stored at 65-70 F.

Thanks!

I think that depends on how much preservatives are added to each meal. I would think the more you add the longer they last? Your rations should still be good for at least year, after that I'm not sure.

I ate an 24H IRP which was 2 months after the BB date. I think that half a year is no problem, if it was stored properly

I have had some where the best before dates on the items inside were quite a bit longer than the one on the outside on the package. I eaten some a few months past the best by date and they were fine.
