Hi,
I've found back this picture of a SAf ration in an old magazine (Troupes d'élite/The Elite, 80's) :

Has anybody really seen one of them?

Barring the worrying sausage like thing in the bottom left of the picture, this ration is a dead ringer for the older UK GP rations, pre the current 24 hour GS rat pack.

Thanks for the info Demoncase.
I strongly doubt that kind of sausage could remain edible for 3 years!
I have not a clue about the content of the long brown pack... à sort of cake? ...something to smoke or ...pre-digested, pre-excreted food?

That too is a new one on me....UK Rations are typically very clearly labelled, for obvious reasons.
I guess it's either a cake....or one of those things that turns into a flannel when you add water...
...Though on the photo it looks kinda like Semtex (don't ask me how I know, mmm'kay!)
