IRP entree review on A/T

I am still using the 24 hour Russian Civil Defense IRP under actual field conditions with Russian or Soviet cooking equipment if possible.
My son and I drove the open top Jeep to the Mountains. Then went hiking a section of the Appalachian trail on an unusually cold windy day (for early April).
The weather was both light snow and rain spitting from the clouds.
We climbed to a saddle got out of the wind and made a Russian lunch with tea. For this trip we selected a entree that show a photo of beef with green beans
Some tea, a Raspberry or some other Russian berry jam, Crackers, and Chocolate bar. We used Russian Army kettles , both classic and Airborne type.
Also used their tiny field stove and a modified French Army canteen cup turned into a canteen cup stove.
We used the boil in the tin method
With the high winds it was hard to get a roiling boil, but the Russian fuel tab did do the job. We had to burrow under a log and build a windscreen
We were both surprised with the green beans and beef, I could not translate the ingredients, but we saw French Style long green beans, onions, small slices of shredded lean beef. This did not have the same amount of fat as in some other Russian meals. It seemed to be packed in a very light tomato sauce and only natural juices of the beans, meat and onions. I added the Salt and pepper. Then split it with my son. To our American tastes the flavors seemed like an all in one French Civilian canned meal. It did not taste processed or overly salted. It was not as filling as other Russian main entrees but maybe that was the idea, more Green vegetables. It still filled us up after we ate the remaining items. We both enjoyed it
The Jam was a delight, again like the Russian Apple Sauce. Not over sweetened , it tasted like berry with a little sugar, but not nearly as much as US Jam. Maybe more like a Swedish jam i had years ago. You could taste the actual berry flavor not the Sugar/corn syrup and fake flavor. The color and smell also were natural and not artificial looking. Last the texture was less like US MRE jelly like a homemade USA Jam. It was not watery or sticky, sort of like very thick apple sauce.
Their Army Loaf or Crackers have been reviewed before, but I must say they are very filling. More so than U.S. MRE crackers. They are hard and had a rye like taste. They were good to collect the remaining meat juices and of course the jam
The Chocolate bar's wrapper had some images of older Russian flags one of what looked like their Naval Jack. The bar was very hard to chew, but still had a smooth texture and was light in color.
It was strongly flavored with sort natural or raw coca flavor and again not overly sweet of sugar or dreaded corn syrup. It was outstanding with the hot tea. It fortified us for the 4 mile trip back down the mountain and then Jeep ride back. For me these meals have been a pleasant surprise with their simple less sweet flavors. Yes many meat entrees are heavy with fat, but there is a reason for that and I understand it
Hiking in more items such as tea and napkin
