These pictures are the reproduction item of the "Air Crew Energy Liqueur" of the Japan Army of WW2.
"Air Crew Energy Liqueur" is the medicinal liquor which soaked various plants and animals in white distilled liquor.
Although that alcohol content is 20%, the contents of this reproduction item are mere cola.

That recipe appears in the book of Japan Army ration history.
It soaks the material of 20 kinds of Chinese medicine in white distilled liquor, and adds syrup and caramel.
A pit viper is included in those materials.
Probably, I imagine that the taste of that medicinal liqueur was sweet, bitter, and fearful...

I read many nation's Naval vessels had various types of official alcohol or spirits issued to the ships doctor to use as he saw fit,
Example mental strain from terrible events, such as man overboard in cold weather type shock Or a non-narcotic to put a wounded sailor's mind at ease.

These bottles were kept under lock and key and used at the medical officer's discretion.
