Well, I had a sucky day yesterday. I ordered 4 different Chinese Rations off eBay. The shipment came. Empty box except a piece of paper from customs, not allowed into country because the product contained meat!!!

I mean wouldn't this mean all shipments from outside the US are now susceptible to confiscation??

 :(

Not "now", they´d been prohibited since ever. Any parcel that had made it before was luck. Maybe also customs read here

I also had a shipemt of Canadian IMPs "raped" by customs and all meat was taken out. Two cases of MREs were went back to sender by customs also...
Sending food intl. is always a risk to lose it.

Well that does suck. Does not inspire hope in me about some recent purchases I made.

When ever you buy from outside the country - no matter if US or Europa - consider it as lost. Be happy, when ever you get it

I ordered some Chinese rations (three heaterless Type 13's) a couple months back and I got the packages. Might just be luck though. Or maybe because my package was very light.

When I have sent stuff out I label the customs sticker: " camping food samples" and leave it at that. If they get curious and open it up, who knows... So far I haven't had any problems importing or exporting for the handful of transactions I have made.

Why such silly rules??? At us within the country products aren't forbidden to be sent at all. And it is possible to send products to Russia, too it isn't forbidden.

Lots of countries have rules about importing food. In small quantities (rations), they usually get through...but technically, the importing of a lot of things like meat and dairy products requires a special import permit so they're within their rights to really refuse almost any shipment. I've had US Customs open packages of Canadian IMPs and various packages from Germany...but they let them through. On the other hand, I've had civilian MRE shipments to Germany rejected because they contained over xx grams of cheese.
