Israeli Rations???
I was just wondering, with all the current events going on and stuff, does the Israeli Army have some type of packaged rats? I saw some kind of canned beef spam-like product they use, on an Ebay auction a long time ago. Our friends, the Israeli's buy a lot of U.S. equipment/weaponry, but I figure they don't buy MRE's from us, for obvious reasons. Anyone

No ration pictures here that I've run across so far but the soldiers are definitely a lot better to look at:

I'm putting together a field trip to Israel for sure now. You know, just to see how the troops like the ... um... rations. Yeah, that's the story. Just to see how they like the food. And, to get some play time with the toys.
Shame that there aren't many photos in the way of bikinis & guns. I've got a great PPS presentation of the Czech AFFF (all female fighting forces) in bikinis or less. I can't post it, but if you PM me with your email, and you are over 18, and you aren't easily offended, and .... I'll forward it on.

I wondered why they have so many women in the IDF, well, here's the answer:
"17 years of age for compulsory (Jews, Druzes) and voluntary (Christians, Muslims, Circassians) military service; both sexes are eligible for military service; conscript service obligation - 36 months for men, 21 months for women (2004)" (found in the CIA world factbook)

There is someone from Israel selling a can of loof on Ebay.

Don't have any pictures, but here are the contents:
(intended for 3-4 people for 1 day)
It weighs around 2.5-3kg, contains:
2 cans of Loof (it's basically spam in a can)
4 cans of Tuna in oil (standard small tins)
1 tin of chocolate spread
1 medium-sized tin of dried fruit (10-12cm high) - the yellow can you see in the above photo.
1 medium-sized tin of peanuts
1 big tin of olives / cucumbers in brine
1 big bag of raspberry drink powder (enough for at least 10-20 cups)
2 bags of coffee
2 bags of tea
some number of sugar/salt bags
and 1 can opener.
No utensils and no heating. Separate loaf of bread is usually included, but not necessarily. Everything's non-dairy and kosher - army here requires kosher, regardless of whether you are religious or not - it's safer to not offend anybody.
I've eaten a fair few of those meals. Tuna is very edible (if you like it, I personally do). Loof is edible, but it's not really tasty, just bland meat. Peanuts and dried fruit are delicious, but end up too quickly
. The olives - well, no idea why they put a whole tin, because nobody has ever finished it, unless they were just eating olives and olives and more olives. The drinks are fine, but I don't trust that raspberry powder...reminds me of those instant drink powders that left marks on glasses that couldn't be washed off.
Can opener sucks. Always bring your own knife with a can opener.
As for utensils, you bend a lid off a tin can in half and eat. It's pretty comfortable.
