Speaking of crackers

I recently watched yet again a review of the French RCIR on youtube which was done by gundog4314 and he mentioned at the very end about the sweet crackers having a strong aftertaste or flavor? Do the French put artificial sweeteners in their crackers or is it something else that causes the strong taste or aftertaste? Also does anyone know if the French have different flavors of the sweet crackers, because in the video by gundog it looked like chocolate flakes in the sweet crackers, but in another video I believe done by kiwi dude, the sweet crackers looked more like a normal shortbread type.

Different looking crackers. More dark and if I remember right, they had an "odd" aftertaste, like soap...

Wow I'm really late to the party on this one. The regular ones were just fine it was the desert ones as I recall had little chocolate bits or whatever it was just sort of lingered. Previous post had good pics. A more recent RCIR I had with Kiwidude and Gschultz had completely different type of sweet cracker. Cheers

Thanks for the reply gundog! The way you were describing the lingering taste on your youtube video, I was wondering if maybe the French started using artificial sweeteners in their rations, but I'm not sure how much sense it would make for them to do it with just the sweet crackers, I'd think they would do it with the snacks and desserts as well. Now that I think about it the only rations I've ever seen mentioned on mreinfo that can be used by diabetic troops are South African Defense Force rations as most other nations disqualify diabetics from military service but I could no longer find them in the search box. Still I would think that the French would list any artificial sweeteners in the ingredients.

Wow.... I`m in a different leage..... I am quite fond of french rcir but to me all the crackers taste quite the same :-)

As I am a simple person the answer is quite short: they all taste ok.
