I'm curious about the crackers "hartkeks(?) in the German EPa rations; on one youtube video I recall the reviewer saying the crackers tasted sweet, but on other videos I recall the reviewer saying they did not taste sweet. I'm curious if the EPa's come with 2 different kinds of crackers like in the French RCIR or if they are only sweet or un-sweetened.

Usually, EPas are coming with (sweet) "Hartkeks". "Hartkeks" are as their German name say, a very hard, sturdy kind of biscuit/cracker. That´s why we call them "armor sheets"
But you are right, there are also salty crackers (Kräcker), but they are not common with the EPa.

Very interesting, Housil! Never saw the Krackers before.
I've had Hartkeks and they are like a hardened sheetrock version of Animal Crackers (A mildly sweet cookie shaped in various animals like Elephants etc. here in the states.)
Rationtin440, I could only akin the Hartkeks to Animal Crackers myself, but maybe there's something else out there that would be a better comparison.
I had a 2009 Russian IRP recently, and it had 2 different crackers.. unfortunately, my taste test failed on them because they were spoiled and tasted like bleach! Eww!
Same thing happens to Petit Pain Bread from Canadian IMPS, when that bread spoils.. step back! It turns into a living creature!!
