I thought they use their bare left "for this" so it´s impolite to eat with or shaking the left hand?!

Funny you mentioned about the left hand housil; my unit was warned about that when we were deploying for Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Another thing that was just as insulting to Muslims was using the name of Jesus in an obscene way/"cussing"---it was very insulting to them because they believe that he was a great prophet and not to be insulted, at least that is what we were told.
