The best "other than entree" ration items

Post by rationtin440 » Tue Sep 06, 2011 9:33 pm

Just curious for opinions which rations from other countries and/or the U.S. have the best tasting desserts, snacks and other non-entree items. Also curious for opinions on which rations have the best coffee.

The French RCIR with the coffee and cocoa powder

The British RCIR with the oatmeal flapjack bar and fruit snacks

The US MRE's with the cinnamon buns and apple turnovers

My favorites are any MRE poundcakes, the cheese spread, and the guerilla cookies.

MRE Poundcake, bacon cheese spread, ranger bars and the MRE hot pockets are my favorite. Hotpockets I guess are technically an entree, but they're still awesome.

I love the Jalapeno Cheese Spread and Chocolate Banana Nut desert bar in MREs as well as the Cafe' Mocha!

The Yorkie Bars in the British 24 pack are great.

Any of the pate's of the RCIRs.

I do love the pocket sandwiches in the FSRs just like BigMark. But, they are the entree'.

Cheese Spread with Bacon on a WSB is my favorite with Jalepeno Cheese Spread as a close second to the Bacon. If I could pick anything though whether or not I could have it regularly, I've always been a big fan of the freeze dried fruit bricks from the 80s. The cinnamon buns and filled french toast are really tasty too.

Thanks for feedback everyone! Looks like I got out of the military too early to get the really good stuff that's in the rations now! :(

German Hartkeks aka. Panzerplatten.. best allround snack when you have some sort of spread around.
Hate them, love them.. Especially good with US jalapeno cheesespread.
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.
