vehicle ration heating systems
Not sure if it was the British series of Warrior armored vehicles which had this, but I recall something about a rations heating system that was supposed to be better than the system in American hummer vehicles. Something sticks in my mind about it being on the Warrior vehicle. Actually one cool thing about the Warrior was that the command version of the vehicle that I saw during Desert Storm had a toilet on board!
So if it had a toilet then I'm sure a ration heating system was easy enough to accomodate. Curious if any other NATO or former warsaw pact/current russian armored vehicles had/have ration heating systems on board.

Re: vehicle ration heating systems
Our Strykers had a great water heating "box" inside them you could use to heat up water to shave or make coffee or to heat your MRE meal in. But most guys just set the packet either inside or on the exhaust pipe you can curl it up and it fits nicely inside about 5-10 min you have a hot meal, package smells like JP8 fuel though.... The whole time I was in I never once saw or used a electric type MRE heater in any type of HMMWV.
Re: vehicle ration heating systems
I have seen the same heater device that CAVGUY mentioned and I'm trying to find that exact same device but having no luck. Housil and myself purchased an earlier model MRE heater device and so far mine works well. It's simple and effecive not mention pretty portable.
As for a heating device that the British came up with, I've never heard of such a device let alone seen one. I'm sure the UK does have something. It wasn't too long ago that they had cans in the 24 hour rations, so something similar to a hot water heater would have been designed. I think biscuts brown would be the one to talk to on that. He can find anything UK wise.

IIRC, one of the Brit tanks had such an item, to heat Compo's and hot water spigot for tea.
It was inside the turret.
I can't remember which tank, tho...

Thanks for replies everyone! biscuts brown my apologies for not asking you about this. I'm also trying to recall the inside of a Warrior series command vehicle that I saw in 1991, sooooooo.....
I do recall some kind of rations heating system and the toilet (which BTW I was told that no British crew-member would use unless he/she wanted to be made fun of or stomped for filling the vehicle with nasty odors). What I clearly recall was the vehicle was a command version for a unit of British armored ambulances, and myself and some other medics from my unit were "comparing notes" with some British medics, comparing the vehicles and being envious of how nice the British medical vehicles were.

Rationtin440,
Check out the discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4220.
I think this is the one you might be refering too. The more modern ration heater has a US model make and a EU model make as well. I have seen on a Canadian and a British defense contractor website that they make this model and it is similar to the US version.

Hi RT, sorry just saw the thread.
You mean the BV. (Boiling vessel) Here are some pictures from the thread that showed it originally. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3985&start=30
The BV has been a feature of all UK AFVs since the early 50s.
There are also some pics of that high sided command APC from GW1 that you mention on the thread. I think its the first 3-4 pages mate
Thanks for the recommendation TS

np biscuits and ty for reply! I'm thinking now that the vehicle may have been merely a Samaritan(?) with extra antennas on it, it was tracked and covered with red crosses. Probly a British equivalent of the American M-577 tracked medical command vehicle. I'll tell you though, people with claustrophobia or who are very tall would have trouble in either vehicle.
I do think the British tracked vehicles are alot cool-er looking though.
