history EPA Leicht

Post by Nawt » Sun Jun 13, 2010 7:36 am

Hi guy's,

I was looking for some more details on the German EPA LEicht rations.

I have some (see picture) different ones and was wondering how and what.
Like when (time period) they were issued and the different varieties,
that is for menu wise as well as size wise (one man and 4 man Ration Packs).
I did a search trough the topics but was rather unsucsessfull.
Hoping you guy's could help me out.

If more pictures/details are desired please let me know.

Thank you in advance!
Nawt.

->Read here<- about the card board boxed EPa leicht

The first row of plastic bags (Typ A & B) where issued around 1995 to KSK only somebody told me.

The second row, Typ II, III, IV seems newer to me as the entrees inside looks like VERIS made and Veris (also Lukulus company) replaced the first manufacturer "Simperit-Reiter" called "Travellunch". As I never saw them in Bundeswehr use, I can´t tell you how authentic they are.
They are maybe homemade or are in use to non-German military as the manufacturer also deliver to other countries.

The mentioned Simperit-Reiter Travellunch was also issued to e.g. Austrian Army:

Hi Housil,

Thank you for the information.
The ones in the second row seem authentic going by the contents, but that might be misleading. That's the trick.
Would be the first one I ended up with that are not real :shock:
I do have some EPA's leicht 4 man packs menu I-V.
The ones from 95, where there more menu's rather then A & B?
Too bad the one has an internal leak on the chocolate site :(

COntents of the 'dubious ones' (visual):
2x 80 gr. main meals;
2x trekking riegel (energy bar);
1x coockies (weizenkiemlingskekse;
1x matches;
sugar;
water steri tabs;
paper towels;
Nahrstoffpulver (like a milk/dairy shake);
+ ??

from what I can see on the products the dates on it match.

Here's some more pic's
