So they always told me that you cannot buy the official Finnish Defence Forces combat ration pack. But I found this store here in FInland and they sell the real deal (I have served in the finnish army so...). And they sell them to ordinary people too. Also international.

In finnish the official goverment name for this is "Taistelumuonapakkaus".

I was in the service back in 95-96. Our packs would keep like 30 years. The finnish military has a long tradition on rations, they had then in the the 1930's at least. These are newer ones from what we had. And i believe they come straight from the manufacturer. They do look a bit more "hi-tec", than the ones from they 90's. I have heard that it is the same norwegian manufacturer that supllies all nordic countries (FIN, SWE, NOR). I need to look into that a bit. I liked them back when I was in the army. yes its rigth that the fin norw swed danish are using the new drytech
rations from norway.
talked to the fin army people this winther when they was
here for the exersice,and they loved the new norway rations
since they had more food and candy,drinks and so on.

A box of 24 packs 720 Euro.

They do send international, also to the U.S., but at buyers risk.
The price is pretty steep, but these do come straight from the manufacturer. They are not army surplus.





It's been a while when i was in the army, but they outsourced all their military rations? I mean, how smart is that? When a war comes... But I liked the finnish made ones fine. If these are better then good. Do they sell these in the civillian market in some other place too? Cheaper?

complete norwegian 24 hours rations are hard to gett,even in norway.
one ration cost about 47$ if im not to wrong
and you can only buy the main meals like dinners lunch
at sports stores.
al the other army 24 hours are for the army.

€720 Seven-hundret-twenty?!?!
For that you will get ~ 12 cases MRE´s over here. That´s are food for 48 days three meals a day. That´s the two times more than that!!

As the cold war is over, the military changed their philosophies. German Bundeswehr stopped to store any rations in 1999 but came back in storing 500.000 when they joined missions at former Yugoslavia (KFOR) and Afghanistan (ISAF)
Every war need´s some preparations, even from the attacker. They have to summon their troops and had some political skirmish before. No war comes "over night" (excapt Germanys "Blitzkrieg")

Don't forget these are arctic rations.. the Dutch ROEK also costs about €30 at eBay
The food is more expensive, it's quite rare, and the army simply buys a few more then a army store..

Not a whole lot of information out there on Finnish ration packs. They used to be called "Sissipakkaus" (Ranger pack or Guerilla pack) and had a lot of canned & dried foods. Within the past few years it seems the Finns "outsourced" certain ration components and introduced something that more closely resembled NATO rations.

Finnish Troop Ration (Taistelumuonapakkaus)

Packed in small cardboard box measuring 250 x 500 x 100 mm, weighs between 950 g & 1.6 kg and somewhat resembles the French RCIR. Contents as laid down in the specifications are:

Beverages: Tea (2 g), Coffee (2 g), Cocoa (50 g), 2 envelopes Instant orange drink powder (17.5 g ea)
Breakfast: Instant oats w/dried fruit (70 g) or plain Instant oats (70 g)
Lunch: Crisp Bread (85 g), Ham Spread (125 g) or Salmon Spread (125 g)
Main Meals (2 per box)*: Chicken curry w/rice (400 g), Pasta w/asparagus in cheese (150 g), Beef & Mushrooms w/rice (162 g), Noodles in Carbonara sauce (150 g), Curry Beef w/rice (154 g), Beef Stew (250 g)
Other: Chewing Gum (6.5 g), Chocolate Bar (50 g), Snack Bar (Oat & Wild Berry - 30 g or Oat & Honey -30 g), Sugar (5 g), Salt (0.5 g), & Pepper (0.2 g)
Accessories: Antiseptic towelette, Matches, Water purification tablets (sufficient for 2.4 liter), 10 sheets Multipurpose paper

*These are the ones I've seen; I'm sure there are others. Older packs contained round pop-top cans, newer ones a French-style "plat de cuisine" or MRE-type retort pouch

I was in Kosovo 2007-2008 and we had those French style food cans in some of our finnish rations (our field rations was packed by Danish camp supply) and they were pretty awful. Some bags had those French food cans and some had Drytech's main meal.

Nowdays finnish army is using (at least in peacekeeping operations) Drytech's Real field meal combat rations.
