On March 16. 2009 the german Süddeutsche Zeitung made public a test of expedition meals:
Star cook Holger Stromberg, tasted and judged several freeze dried foods. The best tasting food could receive a 1, the worst tasting a 6.
None won the 1, but several got the 6. The Canned hamburger from Trekking Mahlzeiten wasn't tased by the star cook. It was something he would not eat! ("Das geht einfach nicht, das kann ich nicht essen.")

from Travellunch:
- Vanilledessert mit Himbeeren (3)
- Pasta Bella Italia (4)
- Hühnerrisotto mit Gemüse (5)
- Pina Colada, Travellunch (6)

from Quick Cuisine:
- Rindergulasch Burgunder Art (5)

from Heater Meal:
- Steak and Vegetables, (4)

from Dauerbrot:
- Hartkekse (Note 2)

from Trekking Mahlzeiten:
- Elchfleisch - Gormet-Topf (Note 6),
- Paprika-Sojaragout (Note 6),
- Cheeseburger in der Dose (Note 6),
- Blaubeersuppe (Note 5)

from Adventure Food:
- Pasta mit Walnüssen (Note 2),
- Expeditionsfrühstück (Note 2),
- Curryrahm-Früchtereis (Note 2).

---

I haven't tasted the Adventure Food yet. Maybe later on.
It is made by a small Dutch company.

He came to the same resault than me. That Quick Cuisine self heating meal didn´t work, not even after 30minutes - still "ice cold"
Same happend to mine
I nuked it and that french made entrees are still my personal favourites, so I can´t agree his grade 5 (E). But he eat it cold as the selfheating device didn´t work

He also complained about the plastic package of the Heater Meals, also the handling of the FRH. The user manual seem´s him to "complicate" Maybe the German Soccer National Team like it to eat from chinaware with silver cutlery, but this guy was testing OUTDOOR food, not a Michelin Star awarded restaurant! But he didn´t complained about the food of Heater Meals

The German Travellunch (entree of Bundeswehr EPa leicht) just got a 5 (E) because the bag could stand on a surface well. That was the only also in military use food he tried. All other are civilian brands.

Next time let us test his kitchen somewhere outdoors and see the results...
