Hi,
I've just received the 8 entrées I've bought on eBay.fr
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0393820260
In fact I don't know whether they are civilian or military rations. Except for one (Aptonia/Decathlon sport shop) they look like the EPA leicht entrees, the inscriptions are in French and English, the inspection stamp is German (D 8-197 EWG) and there's no maker's mark or address at all!
The seller is in Kourou (French Guyana) where the Legion jungle training center is so could they be a French version of the LRRP or EPA leicht entrees?
Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures: I took they with my mobile phone and that #*%@ alu foil is not easy to photograph
BTW, there's one of those French "Commando" packs for sale on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0329848224 Last week I miss it when it ended with no taker at .99 euros
It's expiry date was 2001 but I'd like to see how it looks like inside...

THAT'S IT, thanks Nawt
Well, the other items in the package look like standard RCIR elements. Congratulation for the full pack, a nice piece for a collector.

Hello,
I've tried one of them today: the "Aptonia" beef and noodles stew.
I was out in the nature all the day for an amateur radio contest so I decided to open one of my new packs.
The weather was pretty damp, I used half a pack of "Bundeswehr mit Sicherheit JA" matches and 3 British "all weather" matches before I could light my *$#!@ Esbit tabs (25 year old , I bought when I still was a trainee in the boot camp

).
After an eternity and 4 tabs, the water was not boiling yet, so I poured the 150ml of warm water into the pack.
5 minutes later when I opened the bag, it looked like nothing had changed: the noodles looked still hard and dry but in fact they were OK. The brown "things" doubled their original size and I could see they were some big chunks of beef, not bad at all. The entree was the most tasty I had but after I finished all the noodles and the meat, I found the sauce at the bottom of the bag, still in powder. I guess the water was not hot enough or I maybe didn't stir well enough.
My conclusion: I wouldn't pay 4 bucks everyday for that kind of food but to it's much better that the classical instant noodles: at least you can see the meat!
