The Gruppenverpflegung was introduced before 2004 as it saw it´s first (public) mission with the Bundeswehr in Banda Acehs tsunami disaster.
But you are right, the Verpflegungsamt (German Army "Food Deparment") will stock up 150.000 Gruppenverpflegung from this year

I had them with my rain camping (review)

the items made by VERIS were also in the "EPA leicht" (for 4 men) which is replaced by the "gruppenverpflegung" (for 20 men)

Says who?! (link, source?!?!)

The Gruppenverpflegung is a "field kitchen" (B-) ration (only), the EPa (leicht) is a non-field kitchen (C-) ration

Gruppenverpflegung from a field kitchen is the part between EPa/MREs and regular (local) kitchen (A-ration) in the barracks

Oh, it´s just a rumor :D

They maybe shut down EPa leicht, but they doesn´t REPLACE them with the Gruppenverpflegung. That would make no sense.
DSO has still 20.000 in stock at C***, I know the Küchenbulle (Hauptfeld und Küchenmeister der DSO aus Veitshöchheim)

Both.

E.g. the meat needs just to be warmend up, some side dishes (dumplings) are dehydrated and just need to be cooked in boiling water. They will soak the water through their plastic packing to rehydrated.
Gruppenverpflegung needs a (field) kitchen allways, not like the UGR with their heating system out of a tray.

Housil,

So are these available to purchase and maybe do a food review? If you say they are like the US UGR's (20 men) then I'd say that's a lot of food for a review. Is there anyway you can get in touch with a contact and get more info for us? They look like really good food at least an improved version of the Epa Light.

They are still hard to get as they are actually issued to foreign countries missons...

See second EPa video at 5:24 , that official Bundeswehr video.

This "rations" are not especiall military made like EPas, MREs T-rations.
Miliary rations had been made to stand "for ever" without refregeration. An EPa was good for 20-30 years!
An heritage of "cold war", when an cut off supplies was feard.
Now the regular EPas have a self life of 3.5 years, this Gruppenverpflegung is made to stay for just 18 month, in hot climate just 3.
They make them to use them now, not to store them. :D

A review would be "difficult", I doesn´t want to open my

10 Bratwursts, have them with 40 meat balls and 1.2kg of green beans + 3 Liters of pea stew...

The manufacturer are companies making "disposal" mess hall food for civilian companies, feeding thousands of employees every day.
The Bundeswehr buys this civilian food coponents, pack them at their own department in boxes making them a military food item now.
Thats cheaper than let make an own product.
