Hi folks,
something comes in my mind as i thourt about putting some EPA's into my car for a case of emergency.
How reacts EPA if it is longer time under Sub zero conditions.
I am a littel bit afraid that the cold could break up the Aluminium boxes.
In these case it would be unusable in a few days.

my opinion: the colder you store a ration the better it is. i drive MREs and water around in my car for 5 months now.

They wouldn´t. They don´t contain enough water to pop them up. Not like a beer bottle in the freezer
We were carring (is "schlepping" an english word?!) EPa´s at winter combat training without any problems and edible allways. Just the jam became a little bit "unsoft"

I know it's a little different with the EPa aluminum containers than with the MREs, but I was recently reading about the life span of MRE pouches and they say the main problem is with repeating freezing and thawing because that causes the packaging to expand and contract. But they also said the MRE pouches are rated to withstand 1,000 freezings and thawings. That sounds like a lot - like three years of daily freezing and thawing.

Many English speakers use it - mostly Americans, in my experience. I think it passed into English via German- and Yiddish-speaking migrants in the USA.
Judging by these and your other pics, Housil, you seem to go on some cool trips.

It seems so
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/schlepping
The explanetion in these dictionary fits to 100% to the german word
schleppen
Schleppen is also used if you carrying somethink with you and the carrying is a kind of painfull for you, too.

I've definitely heard the word "schlep" before. IIRC, I think it was mostly from my Jewish friends and colleagues. Also, it seems like the word "schlep" was used to indicate that carrying something was a pain in the ass - as in "I had to schlep these boxes up three floors without an elevator!"

Love the old-school MERDC paint job on the M151 jeep.

I especially like the Red Cross painted on the armored vehicle with a machine gun mounted on top. :-)
