For dutch users: I bought it for 7 euro's at countrystore.nl
Anyone ever tried on of these? I have only one so i dont want to open it right now.
I haven't tried the Seven Oceans brand, but I have tried the Mainstay Emergency rations. I'm guessing they're pretty similar. It's a dry cereal bar that's supposed to be non-thirst provoking. They're fun to snack on but I'm not sure how much fun they'd be if that's all I had to eat.
you can also make a porrigde out of it with hot water or cold
they are made in bergen by compact as in norway, they have
made survival bars for many years for the norwegian army
and other nations.
they are pretty sweet and fills your stomac good.
cheers from norge
Uhhhhhh, only if there was nothing else...and I mean nothing else in the zone to eat (no plants, no bugs etc) I'd rather eat CCC or and omelet out of an MRE case and that's saying a lot....
I've eaten them...or a version of them...thirst provoking coconut flavored...OK I guess if you're strapped for storage space (like on a raft at sea..after you had to pull the dump on the Ej-seat..or your big boat sank...)
I covered these (MAYDAY) in my book...(after trying to eat them for a long period of time..days...)
Grr, I forgot to buy your book SoFlo, I bookmarked it so I can pick it up next payday. Too much stuff going on right now to keep up with everything I have on my plate. I've started a list, we'll see if it helps.
SoFloAuthor, can you give us the Reader's Digest version of what it was like to eat those bars for days? I've been tempted to try it for at least one day but maybe a glimpse into your experience would be eye-opening.
I got some Seven oceans rations on order to try. Compact also make the BP-5 disaster relief ration. I emailed Compact to find out who sells it in the US and this was their response:
"I am afraid that it will not be possible to import the BP-5 as it is
not FDA approved. Doctors without Boarders imported 10 cartons for an
exhibition in New York and it took them months to get it our of customs. For your personal use Seven OceanS should be a better choise unless you are going to use it for someone malnurished. BP-5 is tailor made for malnurished people in developing countrys - being also the reason why we never took the burden of having it FDA approved for use in the U.S.
With kind regards"

The "Trekking" ration appears to be the BP-5 packaged for commercial sale. I've seen this for sale on many Euro outdoors websites.
