hi guys... another review:

this is the tinned bread from german bundeswehr, i bought a whole case with 30 tins for 10 €, so thats about 33 cents per tin. regular price for commercial tinned bread in local stores is about 1 - 1,50 €

this bread is manufactured in 1988 and doesnt have any information about manufacturer on the tins or on the case. only thing written on it is WBVpflA VI, i guess it means something like "millitary food department 6"

the bread is still in good condition and tastes ok, very good with mettwurst or cheese spread, or whatever. its not good to eat only the bread whitout anything on it, cause its some kind of dry and bitter taste

other negative side effects are:
after 2-3 hours, there are some stinky gases coming out of the stomach and its not possible to keep the bread from the opend tin for longer then a couple of hours, cause it starts to change its taste very quickly into something bad, i guess thats because of the contact with oxygen. if it would be fresh, then it would be possible to keep it open for 2-3 days...

but its cool to have it sometimes, because everything tastes good when you're hungry!

Even worse, it sounds like it'll start self-destructing in your stomach right away if you eat it. :-)

WBVpflA VI is for Wehrbereichsverpflegungsamt VI in Neu-Ulm

That whole grain bread causes gas is "normal"... but I love the taste of it. The "sauer" taste is on purpose for the "Vollkornbrot"

yes it is...
i expected it to be cut in slices, cause last year when i had such bread, it was cut. cant see it on the case, if it is cut or not.

On ebay are often cut bread vom 1999,without the stinky gases,it tastes very good.

That looks pretty similar to the current EPa bread. At least, the "current" bread I last saw in a 2003 EPa.

Today on German TV, a video about the company making the German EPa can bread:

Great video, housil! I didn't understand much of the German commentary, but I thought it was funny around 0:40 into the video where they seem to ask, "What do you call it when you cross bread with cans? Canned bread!" That got me laughing...I guess it's funnier when you don't understand most of everything else they're saying.

If that's not what they're saying, please don't tell me...let me enjoy my own made-up humor. :-)

correction:

expire date at the ROGGENSCHROT-bread is always 24 month (manufacturer information) - not 15 month...

doesnt matter if bundeswehr or civil packaging
