2018 UK ORPs still in boxes

Yesterday I received a few UK ORPs that I bought from MREMountain. I got 3, all dated 09/18 : Menu 10, 13 and 14. All are in the classic boxes, even though I think the official changeover to bags started earlier in the year. I know this was discussed back in 2018 as well.

While trying to find out what these menus contain, I found way more info on Menu 1 to 10 than on 11 to 20. And on 2016 and earlier versions than on later years. Anyone know why that might be?

Am I correct in my memory that these officially are good for 3 years, and practically for longer? Or was it only 2 years?

Rob

3 Years official
5 years is realistic
7 years is fine just use your common senses.

REGULAR orps started being in bags in 07/18 (bag trials started with sikh/hindu in 2016). 09/18 was the last major production run for the boxes ORPs, hence why there are so many.
Boxes were still being packed until early 2019 in HALAL just to use em up i think. As for 2016, Oldsmokey asked for 2016 menu sheets so thats probably why you found so many.

Any questions feel free to ask

Thanks for the detailed reply!

Yeah, I figured most of the items are good WELL past "offiicial" Best By, or in US terms "Inpection" dates. I think I ate a 2014 ORP a few years ago and pretty much everything was still good. The 2006 MREs I have (still a little life left in the TTI) are mostly still OK with just some degradation and 2011 Canadian IMPs are good except for the lightly packaged commercial crackers and cookies (stale and rancid).

I'm not sure how accurate this is but it seems to make sense: from what I've read and heard, any ration items containing dairy tend to expire first. Seems to be the case with MREs as well.
