Issues/Delays With Overseas Shipping

Post by cavguy » Sun Sep 13, 2020 5:08 pm

Aside from the normal US Customs restrictions when it comes to food. Has anyone from the forum had any issues with importing/shipping in general due to COVID - as in long shipping delays, etc?

For example USPS says;

I tried to send from Germany, my first parcel got rejected due to corona.
Now I can send Germany to Canada, but no airmail, just by ship.
Germany to USA no service at all :cry: only when send as "premium" means postal service charges extra :evil: €22 per Kilogramm.

Interesting, I figured UK would have similar delays (as Germany) with airmail.

I've been ordering 2 Lithuanian rations once a month from a Lithuanian seller, and one RCIR a month from a different Lithuanian seller for the past two years or so. I noticed a definite delay of 2 weeks to a month on the orders from Lithuania, although they still come through without a problem. I had two of these orders stopped by customs pre-covid. The random orders I make that come from China and Russia still seem to come through at their same snail's pace.

I've just mentally adjusted delivery time from 2 weeks to a month and a half for the regular Lithuanian orders. China and Russia are, and have always been, 4-6 weeks. Small price to pay, as far as I'm concerned. Having said that, I'm looking forward to things getting back to normal.

I ordered 2 Lithuanian rations from an eBay seller in Lithuania on Aug 20 and they were delivered Sept 5 without any issues. Final delivery by the US Postal Service.
